A hard cover publication with red cloth over board covers, gold coloured title text on spine, stitched bindings with loose dust jacket. The covers, spine and bindings are in excellent functioning order and are showing minimal signs of shelf wear. The page block edges are tidy but have a few old stains from foxing. Internally the text pages are clean, intact and complete. There is a name and two prices written in pencil on the leading blank end paper, also there is some (but very little) underlining throughout the book, again this looks to have been written in pencil. The loose jacket is in a generally good condition with wear to its edges and spine. A summary of the books condition is: a sound and tight book, with some old foxing stains to its block edges, its loose jacket has some wear to its edges, however internally its reading quality is totally unimpaired. Originally a German publication this copy being the first English translation. A compelling book for all historians, students and interested individuals of railways and transport. A thoroughly researched book looking at railway engineering, locomotive and rolling stock development and the general growth of railways. Supported throughout with numerous black and white photographs and drawings.
