Description:
London: John Murray, 1839 3rd edition, (1st published 8 years earlier in 1831), in contemporary full leather binding with 6 black and white plates. There is a signature for John ?Slater Harrison, dated 1839 to a preliminary.Remaining contents nice and clean. There is light brown toning to paper.

Paris: Chez Firmin Didot, 1790 A fair copy of the first French edition of William Bligh's famous account of his voyage in The Bounty and the subsequent mutiny of his crew. In contemporary full leather binding, complete with 3 folding charts. Classed as 'fair' because the full leather binding has wear, particularly to the spine and the hinge to the front board. It has a title label and gilt decoration to the spine but the gilt is very worn. The boards are in good condition with wear to edges and corners. Internally there are marbled endpapers - the front endpapers have a split along the joint with the book block. Both sets of free endpapers have numerous pencil notes. Contents: half title; title page; Avis du Traducteur -xiv; Proportions principales de la Chaloupe du Vaisseau le Bounty 2pp; Avertissement 2pp; large folding chart; text pp 1-171 (fin) with 2 further folding charts; blank. There is a small sticker to the reverse of the fep, and some slight paper damage to the top margin close to the gutter in pp 17-23. The final folding chart has a small paper tear where it is attached to the book. Otherwise the book is sound and very clean. It has light toning to pages and the odd mark.

Hulme, Keri: The Bone People. Louisiana State University Press, A tale of New Zealand. Stated United States First Edition, 1985. 450 pages, indexed. WINNER OF THE PEGASUS PRIZE FOR LITERATURE AND THE BOOKER PRIZE. Used. Very Good/Very Good unclipped original $17.95 dust jacket. Summary: "The Bone People, first published in 1984 by Spiral, New Zealand. About this book: The Bone People is an unusual story of love. It is unusual in the telling, the subject matter, and the form of love that the story depicts. This is in no way a romance; it is filled with violence, fear, and twisted emotions. At the story's core, however, are three people who struggle very hard to figure out what love is and how to find it. Hulme won New Zealand's Pegasus Prize for Literature (1984) for The Bone People. Then the book went on to win the prestigious Booker Prize (1985).
