1937 Random House first edition. 221 pages.
Perelman's second collection of humor pieces. Quite uncommon, as there was only one printing. Dorothy Hermann (SJ Perelman: A Life) tells how Sid's total earnings from the book were a $300 advance, and $12 in additional royalties. Sid was not too pleased. This may have been the opening wound in Perelman's eventual falling out with Bennett Cerf at Random House.
Condition of the book is Very Good. The binding is straight and sound. Inside pages are complete and unmarked. The main condition issue is light staining to the endpapers from binder's glue bleed through (see the last photo).
Condition of the dust jacket is Very Good Minus. The DJ has been price clipped. It shows some wear to the edges and folds, and has chips missing at the top and base of the spine. It is protected in a new mylar cover. (see photos)

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence.
