This beautiful work of literature has been carefully kept in a temperature controlled environment since it was given as my High School Graduation gift by my parents to myself, a true lover of the written word.
This exquisite copy of this remarkable work is in a very good condition and does not show much sign of wear at all. The binding is nearly perfect except for a tiny bit of folding at the top and botton of the binding as will happen from pulling the book toward you from the top.
The pages of this book are in wonderful condition without any markings, tears, missing pages, etc.
There are twp inscriptions on the inner first page, not on the book cover back itself but on the very first page. These inscriptions read as follows:
"Dear Adrienne,
I am so proud of you on your graduation. You will surely accomplish many more wonderful things in the years ahead. I love you. Mommy June (marked through in a straight line) May. 23, 2002"
"To Adrienne on your graduation from High School. I'm very proud of you & I love you very much. Daddy 5/24/2002"
Other than the inscriptions in this book the item itself is in as great a condition it could possibly be in given its age. The pages are straight, even, and flush. This is a beautiful copy of a beautiful work.

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence.
