Leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title: Purdon's Digest 1830. Formerly there was a second label in the fourth compartment. Blind-rolled chain border on each board. Former owner's name on title page and endpapers: J. Miles. Contains the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of Pennsylvania, and the laws of Pennsylvania arranged by topic. In Very Good+ Condition: lacking one original spine label; leather is rubbed, with several small scrapes; leather over spine is starting to crack; light foxing; pages are somewhat browned, but clean and tight. A solid copy.

"5" in ink at upper right-hand corner of title page. Light marginal pencil marks throughout. No date of publication. Information in the publication goes up to 1848; the State Library of Pennsylvania gives 1849 as the year of publication. Lawyer and judge Garrick Mallery (1784-1866) served in the Pennsylvania legislature from 1827 to 1830. He was the father of Garrick Mallery (1831-1894), an ethnologist who specialized in Native American sign language. Very scarce. In Very Good Condition: disbound; first leaf and last leaf detached but present; light marginal pencil marks; otherwise, clean and tight.

Philadelphia: the committee, 1851. Paperback. Very Good. 8 p.; 22 cm. Disbound from a volume of unrelated 19th-century pamphlets. "4" in ink at upper right-hand corner of title page. Caption title. The address was put together by a committee chaired by William M. Meredith. The address is followed by a statement by Daniel L. Miller, Jr., president of the Sunbury and Erie Railroad Company, about the railroad proposed to connect Sunbury to Erie. The Sunbury and Erie Railroad Company had been chartered in 1837, but did not begin construction until 1852, when the state passed enabling legislation. No date of publication; based on information in the address, 1851 is the most likely date. William Morris Meredith (1799-1873) was a lawyer in Philadelphia; he served as Secretary of the Treasury under President Zachary Taylor in 1849 and 1850. Very scarce. In Very Good Condition: disbound; minor foxing along gutter; otherwise, clean and tight.

Hardcovers bound in tan buckram with spine titles on black fields. Moderate wear to the bindings, which have some smudge marks on the spines and covers. A sound set. Each volume comes with a thick paperback Supplement inserted at the rear (bound with this in mind; the binding allows for the inserts which are about 200 pages a piece). Volume I bears the imprint date of 1957. Volume II is 1959. Volume III is 1960. And Volume IV is 1961. The Index is for Volumes 200 to 254. The Index is only 4 volumes itself. Scarce.

1947 National Safety Council, Chicago trade hardcover format with dustjacket. Dustjacket in overall Very Good minus condition, two enclosed rips along the seam of the front panel, spine end extremities chipped, top spine is chipped, light overall aging; looks very good in brodart protective sleeve. The dustjacket is printing on low quality paper, it's nice to find one in any condition. "Ellington Air Force Base; Ground Safety Deps; Dec. 1953" is penned in lead based ink on the ffep and grounds the history on this piece. One lead based ink dot that bleeds through page 47 to 48, top edge lightly toned, else pages are clean & unmarked.
