About This Item

New York: Viking Penguin. The award-winning Pynchon's seventh book spans most of three decades from the 1893 World's Fair in Chicango to just after World War I; the action moves from Colorado to New York to London, Venice, Vienna, Central Asia, Siberia, Mexico, Hollywood and a few places not on any map; its characters include anarchists, balloonists, gamblers, tycoons, innocents and decadents, shamans and scientists, spies, detectives and hired guns with cameo appearances by Bela Lugosi and Groucho Marx. It's all Pynchon as usual -- trying to show us the world not necessarily as it is but as it just might be. Lower corner of front cover slightly bumped, o/w boards and text are clean, tight, square; dustjacket shows small crease on back flap o/w very minimal surface and edgewear. At 1,085 pages, this is a heavy book that may require additional postage. . Near Fine. Hardcover. First Edition, First Printing.. 2006.
