[Quoted from the enclosed prospectus].<p>The Danish-born industrial designer, artist & typographer Gustav Jensen (1898-1954) settled in New York City and produced book jacket designs, bindings, advertising and packaging. A designer to industry, as he referred to himself, he designed the Monel Metal sink for International Nickel Company, a telephone for AT&T and a water heater for L.O. Koven & Bro. A pioneer in industrial design, he was featured in a 1934 Fortune Magazine article along with Loewy, Dreyfuss & Teague, and was Paul Rand's mentor. According to Steven Heller's June 20, 2011 article in Print Magazine "Jensen's approach was decorative but not overly ornate.... Advertising, he suggested, is only useful when it is beautiful...." His most enduring, and most well-known, packaging design was the packaging and jar for Golden Blossom Honey with retains much the same look as when he created it in the 1920s.
