About This Item

Toronto: McGraw Hill Ryerson, 1975. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo. 171 pp. Blue boards lettered in gilt on the spine. Wear on the corners of the dustjacket with a few nicks and short tears around the edges; no interior markings. Up and down the East Coast from Halifax to the Caribbean, Captain Haylestone carries freight in his old, wooden double-ender. Life is often hard for a ship owner trying to turn a profit, and the Captain is forced to use whatever means are available. His seamanship is as crafty as his business dealings and under steam or sail, in fog or storm, he almost always gets there, cargo intact and reputation untarnished, avoiding the law most of the time....
