About This Item

New York: E.P. Dutton, 1981 First printing of the stated first edition, limited to 500 signed and numbered copies, this being number 50. Signed by Joyce Carol Oates on a laid in limitation book plate. Light bump to bottom corner, else book and dust jacket in fine condition.

Synopsis

Joyce Carol Oates's Angel of Light is about the Halleck family in Washington in 1980.  The father, Maurice, is found dead from an apparent suicide - but his children, Kirsten and Owen are certain that it was their mother and her new lover that did him in. This free-form book sometimes uses stream of consciousness and jumpy timelines to increase the sense of mystery and confusion as Kirsten and Owen exact any revenge they can.
