Covers have wear to the spine ends and light wear to the outer corners. Front inner hinge is weak, binding is starting to split between the Preface to the Third Edition and the Contents. Rear inner hinge is starting to crack and is weak. Lower part of rear free endpaper has been torn away. Light to slight damp staining to lower edges of many pages, larger on last several leaves. First few leaves and last few leaves have very slight foxing. ; This edition had no map. .

Blind-stamped border on both boards, which have bevelled edges. Grey endpapers. Former owner's name on first (blank) leaf: S. A. Seward. Howes C-103. First published in 1831, this was the first account of events during the American Revolution in western New York state. Tryon County was created from Albany County in 1772; in 1784 the name was changed to Montgomery County to honor General Richard Montgomery. In Good- Condition: cover is heavily rubbed; corners are frayed; loss at ends of spine; front hinge cracked; scattered light soiling.
