2 parts in one continuously paginated volume: (viii), 38, (ix), the first part subtitled "Nel quale si descrive l'egregio Ponte d'Augusto", in which Temanza describes the construction, plan, location, measurements, and other architectural details and features of the Roman bridge built under Augusts and Tiberius and finished in 20 AD; the second part subtitled "Nel quale si descrive l'Arco eretto in onore d'Augusto", in which the author describes the Arch of Augustus dedicated to the Emperor by the Roman Senate in 27 BC and its location, measurements, ornamentation, columns, inscriptions, and other details, with appendix of antique inscriptions within the city of Rimini and its surroundings. Illustrated with 9 large engraved folding plates depicting schematics, architectural details, and scale drawings of the bridge and the arch. Ink notation to front endpaper, label affixed to front inside cover, spine slightly shaken, some minor toning and foxing scattered throughout. Tall 4to. Marbled paper-covered boards, handwritten title to spine, wear and minor soiling and abrasions to paper especially at corners and along spine. Venice (Giambatista Pasquali) 1741. Tommaso Temanza was a Neoclassical architect and writer, active in and around his home city of Venice. His works include the Santa Margherita in Padua, and Santa Maria Maddalena, San Servolo, the chapel Sagredo at San Francesco della Vigna, and a loggia for Ca' Zenobio, all in Venice. He is perhaps best-known for his 1778 biography of Venetian architects, as well as a biography of Andrea Palladio published in 1762.
