The tail of the spine is chipped & frayed with a tiny stain and the top corner of the rear cover is frayed. xix & 164 pages. Numerous black-and-white photographic illustrations by Lucien Herve. There is an owner's ink name on the front endpaper & the book is lightly cracked at the half-title. The gutters are slightly darkened. Le Thoronet Abbey, one of the wonders of twelfth-century Cistercian architecture and still revered by architects today, nestles in a wooded valley in Provence, South of France. This book is a pictorial appreciation of the abbey, photographed by Lucien Hervé in the mid-1950s and introduced by Le Corbusier.Turquoise cloth hard cover book is in very good clean condition with a little signs of wear around the edges. Previous owner's inscription inside 2nd page in ink dated 1960.Dust jacket has many tears and has been mended with tape.
