Second American Edition, to which are added general instructions for the use of aniline colors." xxviii, [1], 18-343, [3], 23, [1] p.; 24 cm. Black pebble-grain cloth with gilt-stamped spine title: "Dyeing, Cleaning, and Scouring." Blaind-stamped decoration on boards. Yellow endpapers. Includes index, and Catalogue of Practical and Scientific Books published by Henry Carey Baird & Co. on 23 pages following text. Also contains advertisements for three related businesses in Philadelphia: Andreykovicq & Dunk (Swiss aniline colors and chemicals for dyeing), Ralston & Biddle (importers of indigo and India goods), and James W. Queen & Co. (seller of Twaddel's hydrometers). The Second American Edition added both an index and an appendix with general instructions for the use of aniline colors, the latter contributed by Andreykovicq & Dunk. In Very Good- Condition: cloth is rubbed with minor loss at head of spine and corners; cloth and edges of pages are stained; lacking front free endpaper; title page is soiled, primarily along gutter; endpapers are stained; otherwise only occasional soiling.
