An account of life in Paris in the Gay Nineties, with caricatures by one of the leading illustrators of the Belle Epoque, Albert Guillaume. Guillaume (1873 - 1942) was one of the artists whose poster work appeared in Jules Cheret's Maitres de l'Affiche (Masters of the Poster), as well as in many leading magazines. Topics illustrated here include costume balls, springtime in Paris, dog shows, summer concerts, horticulture exposition, revues, fetes, pleasures of summertime, Paris in autumn, automobiles, and the "worst day of the year".
Small 8vo, 204pp, numerous b&w illustrations in text. Quarter blue cloth with green marbled boards. Gilt title at red leather spine label. Paris bookseller label inside front board, Librairie Joseph Gibert. Internally, ffep detached but present, pages a bit toned at edges, last page of Table of Contents marked at gutter.
