9 x 7 1/4 inch sheet folded for mailing. Addressed to Mr. E. Wilson, Royal Exchange, on left hand side. Undated [1830's ?]. Two sentences, signed "Geo. Cruikshank". "Mr. Akerman was to see me before any thing final was to be decided upon with respec t to Gil Blas." He proposes to meet with Wilson to discuss the subject. Smollett's translation of Le Sage's ADVENTURES OF GIL BLAS with Cruikshank's illustrations was first published London, 1833. Upper left hand corner of sheet has been torn away ( a blank area), though with loss of part of a later ink annotation identifying the note as from Cruikshank. Very good otherwise. Accompanied by a portrait of Cruikshank engraved by W.A. Jackman. The image size is 6 x 4 inches, and the leaf size is ab out 12 x 7 1/8 inches. Beneath the image is Cruikshank's signature in full, and I believe this to be an actual signature rather than a printed one. The ample left hand margin of the sheet has been trimmed (well away from the impression of the engrav ing's borders). Margins very lightly dust soiled, with a crease to lower corner (again well away from the impression), though the image itself and its borders are quite clean.; Signed by Author .
