[New York?]: Izdanie A. K., ca. 1919. Octavo (22 × 15 cm). Original printed staple-stitched self-wrappers; 32 pp. Stamp of Hoover Library to front wrapper. Small creases to wrapper edges; spine extremities frayed; else about very good. A rare publication of the Soiuz Russkikh Rabochikh (Union of Russian Workers in the United States and Canada), an anarchist association of Russian workers in the United States. The Union was formed in New York in 1908 by the worker refugees fleeing Russia in the aftermath of the 1905 Revolution. The Union was loosely associated with Industrial Workers of the World and supported both the fight of Russian workers against the Tsarist regime and the struggle of non-Russian workers the world over. Counting between five and ten thousand members, the Union published numerous political pamphlets, operated reading rooms, and offered English lessons for Russian immigrants. The Union was disbanded in 1919, after a violent raid on its headquarters by the New York police department, inspired by the Red Scare brought on by the Russian Revolution of 1917. Several hundred Russian anarchists were deported as a result of the raid and the Union ceased its publications. This pamphlet, published under pseudonym, makes an argument for communist anarchism, a position espoused by the Union after 1912. Not in the Russian State or National Libraries. KVK, OCLC show copies only at IISG, Michigan, and Hoover.
