An extremely valuable and impressive, color illustrated work of sport and outdoors by illustrator Samuel Howitt. 'Foreign Field Sports' is a 19th-century sports manual known for its engravings on hunting, big game animals, fishing and ice fishing, horse racing and competitions, and whaling! The whaling engravings themselves are often considered some of the most desirable views of the sport!

Note on dating and rarity: While the title page does not indicate dating, the plates themselves are dated by 1813 and 1833. William gilling was a notable London publisher from 1841-1844. Individual engravings from this work are known be extremely desirable and some sell alone for nearly $1,000!
