This is an original (Not a reprint) of "The Big Sandy Valley, A History of the People and Country From the Earliest Settlement to the Present", by William Ely, published by Central Methodist, Cattletsburg, KY in 1887. The content consists primarily of biographical and genealogical sketches of the families of the Kentucky counties - Boyd, Lawrence, Elliott, Morgan, Magoffin, Martin, Floyd, Johnson, Pike, Perry, and Knox. A truly authentic and original piece of Kentucky history!
No DJ. 7-3/16" H x 4-3/4" W. 500 pp. Former library book. (As best I can tell, this is the original binding, with newer brown inside cover paper.) Binding is stamped, "Newport Public Library" on spine at bottom. Card jacket attached to inside rear cover. Library stamps on pages 5, 101. Library name also lightly stamped on lower page edges. Modern library sticker on inside front cover, rear flyleaf. Top corner (about 1.25" w x .75 h) of pp 7-8 missing, but not the portion with any printing on it . Pages are evenly aged, a bit brittle in places. Binding is a bit brittle as well, but all pages still attached. Wear to the cover; old tape marks (no residue) and shelf wear. Nice, surviving and rare 133-year-old-book!
