Description:
London: Rapp & Whiting, 1973. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First Printing of the First UK edition which was the first hardcover edition of this title. Original green cloth with gilt titles to the backstrip. Not fine but a VG copy which has a slight lean. Pushed a little at the spine tips but with sharp corners. Minor tanning - or rather, dis-coloration - to the edges of the block but free from owner names, library markings etc. The covers are clean and bright. The dustjacket has the original price of £2.50 at the front flap. There is a small tri-angular chip at the foot of the spine and a small, old sellotape repair to the inside of the jacket above. Minor chip to the laminate of the jacket at the foot also. For best appreciation of condition please examine the accompanying images. Much, much better than it probably sounds this is a very nice example of a very rare book - no spotting/foxing, no previous owner names or library markings etc.

First Printing. pp. 271 with 4 blanks to the rear. Original red cloth with titles stamped in black. Untrimmed at the fore-edge. A well-traveled and intriguing copy having originally been purchased, it would seem, in the bookshop of the Copacabana - bookseller label to the bottom of the front pastedown. A good sturdy copy, tight and reasonably square. Spine tips pushed but with no tears to the cloth. Corners rubbed. There are two previous owner names to the front endpaper and below the last line of the text the original owner has helpfully noted (in light pencil) the date he or she finished reading the book - "26-10-42". Some offsetting at the endpapers but otherwise in nice condition, certainly Good or better. The dustjacket is unclipped with price of $2.00 as called for. Small enclosed tear to the spine, small chips along the edges and at the corners, remarkably clean, were it not for the loss of paper Very Good but overall Good. Detailed images should accompany the listing.

Description:
London: Heinemann, 1970. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First Printing. A wonderful copy of the author's fifth novel, filmed in 1974 with Roger Moore, Susannah York and Bradford Dillman in the leading roles. It sounds like a lifetime ago and yet this copy presents almost As New. Square, tight, with a fresh, white text-block, the most minor of pushing at the extreme spine tips but corners sharp- a really handsome copy. In a beautiful unclipped dustjacket with absolutely no loss of paper but a microscopic chip to the laminate at the crown. There is a line or score across the front panel which may be a production fault - not unduly noticeable although obviously a slight blemish to an otherwise perfect copy. Loosely inserted an adhesive label which has been signed by Wilbur Smith - not a contemporary signature.

London: Faber & Faber, 1995. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Superb copy of the Nobel Prize winning author's fourth novel. Black cloth covers with white titles to the spine. Square, very tight, sharp corners, fresh, white text-block, a really Fine book with a light scratch to the lower cover. The dustjacket is unclipped and in Fine clean condition except for one obvious fault which is a 2.5 inch tear or razor-cut to the rear panel from the top edge down. Has been reasonably well tape-repaired but is still noticeable with minor loss of laminate. Otherwise would be a perfect unclipped dustjacket! SIGNED without inscription or dedication at the title page (for the seller in person), a lovely copy.

Description:
New York: Random House, 1959. Book. Illus. by Sam March (dust jacket design). Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. Small octavo. Humes's second novel, following 'The Underground City,' both of which led to his being considered by Esquire magazine as having the same promise as two obscure guys named Updike and Styron (whoever they are). Anyway, he met a guy named Leary who introduced him to a little substance known as LSD, and after seriously indulging his fondness for the hallucinogen he became a trifle paranoid and a bit delusional, which pretty much ended his writing career. Humes was co-founder (with Peter Matthiessen and George Plimpton) of The Paris Review. He died of prostate cancer in 1992. Black cloth w/gilt lettering, 184 pages. Mildly cocked, light general wear, in price-clipped dust jacket w/light rubbing, light edgewear, creases to fore-edges of both flaps..
