Published by J. M. Dent & Sons, London; 1952. 8vo. This lovely first edition of the children's classic by Mary Norton, and the first book in the Borrowers series, is in Near Fine condition. It is tightly bound in it's original light blue cloth boards, with brown detailing and title to the front board and spine. There is some minor bumping to the spine ends and corners, and some mild sunning to the edges and spine. There is a small dent halfway down right hand side of the front board, although this seems to be a part of the board rather than damage to it as it can not be felt from the inside. Apart from these small points, the boards are clean and tidy. Inside, there is a neat ownership inscription to the front free endpaper and a contemporary gift inscription to the frontispiece rector. These are the only markings to the pages, which are clean bright and free from damage, showing just the slightest hint of toning. In all, this book is in excellent condition. The unclipped dust jacket is also in Near Fine condition, clean and bright, with just some slight chipping to the edges, corners and spine ends with some slight loss to the top. There is some minor rubbing to the panels, but otherwise the jacket remains in lovely condition, beautifully illustrated by Diana Stanley. In all, this is a very collectible copy of this children's first edition of a classic tale that has provided enjoyment for generations. This would be the perfect addition to any book collection, as it is sure to continue entertaining children for many more generation to come and therefore will surely grow in value.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions regarding this book, we also have more photos available on request.

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence.
