This is a rare 1st American Edition, 1st Printing of "THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV" by Fyodor Dostoevsky. 1912; The Macmillan Company; New York. Gilt page edges at the top edge of the text block. Constance Garnet translation.

Condition:
Some light soiling to covers and spine; small cloth tears at the corner tips of the covers and at the corners of the spine. Tight binding. No loose pages. There is a crack at the hinge between the half-title page and the opposing end paper. Nice condition text pages - clean and white with no foxing or tears; the half-title page has a tiny stain spot and a small ink smudge (no other stains or smudges found). The front end paper has "Eugene Christmas 1914" written in pen (no other writing found), and an address label above the inscription. Overall in very good condition.

From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.
