About This Item
Bury St. Edmunds Borough Council, publishers, Angel Hill, East Anglia, UK 1973 hardcover, 6" x 9¾" (no jacket issued) Inscription to previous owner to front endpapers. Book in VERY GOOD condition Bury St. Edmunds' importance was recoginzed in AD904 when the body of King Edmund was buried in this old Saxon town. This 'Official Guide' tells of past and present, of Royalty's many visits, of Parliamentry meetings there, and of the gathering of 25 English barons in an important prelude to Runnymede. Bury St. Edmunds is the "least spoilt of towns", its 900-year-old street grid being the finest example in Europe. Book includes may colour and historical b&w photographs.
