Books 1-4 of Tacitus's histories in the original Latin, taken primarily from the Brotier's edition, with portions from Barbou and Gronovius. Notes by Barbou taken from his 1793 edition. Publius Cornelius Tacitus was a Roman statesman in the first century A.D., whose histories provide an authoritative account of various events within the Roman Empire, with the unique insight of a politician living at the time.
