Folio, about 17x14 inches or 44x36 cm, introduced by Joan Miro and Cleve Gray, 16 loose prints derived from Calder's wire- and wood-sculpted circus of the early 1930s, contained in the original illustrated cloth-covered folder. The Whitney Museum, which owns the sculpture, calls it Calder's most beloved work. He used it to put on lengthy shows in Paris for friends and other artists, thus launching his long and successful career. Condition of this folio: Covers scuffed, some discoloration; prints fine. Size: Large Folio (bigger than A3). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Copies 11-50 presented in slipcases. Neruda's text is accompanied with three mezzotints by Judith Rothchild. While the text presentation is sparse and clean the images are velvety and dense. They capture the essence of Neruda's words - "from bristly foliage" to "only a seed".
