Small scratch and crease on bottom front jacket and rubbing to head of jacket and spine. Otherwise a fine copy. Wonderful biography on Vito Russo (1946-1990), the founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and co-founder of the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power(ACTUP). In 1981, Russo wrote The Culluloid Closet:Homosexuality in the Movies, looking at the treatment and portrayal of gay and lesbian characters in film, Biographer Michael Schiavi draws on archival material, letters, interviews and conversations with Russo's friends and family members. Schiavi is an associate professor at the New York Institute of Technology.
