Tokyo: Tensei Shuppan, 1968-1969. The only four issues published (each approx. 200 pp.) of a periodical (mostly in Japanese, with some French translations) devoted to stretching the boundaries of human sexuality and gender identity, exploring sexual customs, mores, and deviance cross-culturally, including analysis of Shunga and other Ukiyo-e prints, Marquis de Sade, bondage, Indian temple sculptures, etc., profusely illustrated throughout. Small quartos. Original illustrated wrappers. Bottom of spine of first issue bumped, else very good. A provocative work, emblematic of the late 1960's, published under the editorial direction of Shibusawa Tasuhiko, a renowned novelist, essayist, and translator of French literature who wrote extensively on black magic, demonism and eroticism. With contributions by Eikoh Hosoe, Ikko Narahara, Kishin Shinoyama, Yoshihiro Tatsuki, Yasuhiro Yoshioka, Shomei Tomatsu, and others. As of June 2020, KVK and OCLC show six holdings in North America.
