About This Item
NCR Microcard Editions. Fine in Very Good dust jacket. 1972. Hardcover. 0910972141 . Hardcover, 214 pages in fine condition with very good dustjacket, jacket has light wear on edges and small spot where price sticker was removed. For the first time 4 early plays of Eugene O'Neill not included in any previous collection have been brought together in one volume. These apprenticeship plays include: Bread and Butter (1914), Children of the Sea (1914), Now I Ask You (1917) and Shell Shock (1918). Regarding the plays as amateurish, O'Neill vigorousley endeavored to eliminate the possibility that they might ever be published. However in the light of the fresh insight the plays provide into the evolution of creative habits of a writer who virtually single-handedly established modern drama in the US, it seems appropriate that his wishes be overruled and the plays offered for public scrutiny.; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall .
