First edition, second issue with the Kennerly label on the front pastedown. 16mo. 79pp. Just about fine (with a couple of foredges unopened) in a modestly toned, good only example of the very uncommon pictorial jacket with a chip near the crown (affecting the cover and spine titiling), tears at the flap folds, and two tiny splash marks on the lower panel.

First Edition, earliest issue without the Mitchell Kennerley plate on the front pastedown. Kennerley eventually took over publication of the book and affixed its own publishing house plate on later copies. Signed presentation from Kilmer on the front endpaper, to author and editor Ethel M. Colson: "To Ethel M. Colson from Joyce Kilmer. November 1916, New York City." Colson and Kilmer were undoubtedly acquainted, with Colson being much involved with poetry, particularly supporting Amy Lowell and the Imagist Movement. Very Good; little wear & soil (small chip near Kilmer's name on the spine) d/j. A nice copy!! $875.00.

Half title or front cover (with printed one shilling price); Title page; 24 pp. Lacking the top half of the last page (23/24), with loss of text, and lacking the errata, but with very old hand corrections to pp 16, 17, 20, 21, and 22. Worn, pages browned, half title with short crease at lower tip, both half title and title pages with 1/2" tear at center of spine edge.

Red on boards with gold print front and spine. Some wear and spot on front.

Condition: Very Good. Full calf. Small stain to front of textblock, but it does not soak through to pages. Slight edgewear to upper front board. Toning to inside boards and endpapers. Some light foxing, particularly on the title page. A collected edition of the poems of William Drummond of Hawthornden (1585-1649), which opens with a short account of his life and writings. 12mo

Very Good with no dust jacket; Pages toned but very clean and bright, boards lightly worn.. nd, Later Edition. Hardcover. Volumes I and II bound together, along with A Political Romance, Addressed to _______ ______, Esq; of York, no publisher, place of publication, or date noted. Printed on laid paper with lots of "f's" for "s's", so appears a late 18th- early 19th century imprint. Rebound in dark green buckram with title stamped in gilt on spine. Top edges gilt. Sabin 91342 notes that this title was originally anonymously published in London in 1770 as the work of a recently deceased literary genius, widely thought to be Laurence Sterne, but later found out to be a literary hoax and the handiwork of Robert Griffith. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 227 pages .

The Spectator was a two or three page paper written by Addison and Steele that was published from 1711-1712 in London, England. Eight bound volumes of The Spectator were published in later runs, each volume containing about 200 daily editions.
Boards are rubbed, scuffed and soiled and most of the gilt spine titles and red band backgrounds have faded. Corners are bumped. Volume two's rear board and volume eight's front board have seperated from the spine but have a very clean break and could be reattached with some basic rebinding. Raised spine ribs. Endpapers and title pages show minor browning with age, but all other pages are clean and bright for their age. Indexes at the rear of the texts.

Good. 12mo; [2], 62, 61-140pp. In original eighteenth century full calf (somewhat worn with loss of leather to spine ends and board corners, upper board detached), five raised spine bands, twentieth century ownership label and remains of older labels to front pastedown, occasional unobtrusive spots and stains but overall a clean complete copy. ESTC T14749, bringing together Sterne's History of a Watch Coat with various letters of whch some are spurious, probably the work of William Combe. A pencil note of the front free endpaper suggests this is the first Dublin edition.
