London: E.G. Henderson & Son, 1864. Very good condition. A striking hand colored zincograph (a lithograph using a metal plate) from the scarce 'The Illustrated Bouquet', by the well known female natural history illustrator. Unusual large image of Sturt's Desert Pea.
This image illustrated by Charlotte Caroline Sowerby, the natural history illustrator, (1820-1865) who was the eldest daughter of the illustrator and natural history dealer George Brettingham Sowerby (1788-1854). Her best known work was published in 'The Illustrated Bouquet'.
"Miss Sowerby del. C. T. Rosenberg zinco." at the lower left. Plate XXVII at the upper right. Laid down on board when framed. 10 1/4 x 14 1/4"
