Whiteley's Schoolboys' Story Book. William Whiteley Ltd. ND. Circa 1925. Quarto Annual. Illustrated cloth spine on Illustrated paper boards of Bi plane flying over desert. PP211 with 16 full page chromolithograph images. Many line drawings within text. 26 stories an articles written by notable authors as Algernon Blackwood and R A H Good Year. A little shelf wear to edges of boards. All pages are bright and clean, probably unread. A scarce copy of the book sold in the Whiteleys Department store in Bayswater, which was to be taken over by Selfridges in 1927.

Beginner Books/Random House, 1965 By Theo. LeSieg (Geisel backwards, Dr. Seuss's pseudonym). Illustrated by B.Tobey. First edition/first state with correct blurbs on dj and 195/195 price. DJ has small closed tear to front bottom, some edgewear and some toning on front cover close to edge. Book has rubbing to top and bottom and corners, a small smudge on first white page and some ink stain to corner of back board. Inside pages are bright and clean. A very nice copy of this hard to find edition.

Inscribed "The Simpson family You saw most of these faces at Green Know on 26 April 2001 Diana Boston" Book in Near Fine condition, Dust Jacket Good/VG. Has very little wear but crinkly with a crease down the back, some dents and a purple stain on back by bar code. See photos.

Twelve full-page chromolithograph plates by Maud Humphrey (Mabel's sister and Humphrey Bogart's mother). Scenes and stories include Martha Washington pouring tea, the surrender of Cornwallis, Washington Crossing the Delaware, Lafayette dancing the Minuet, Moll Pitcher, Betsy Ross, Paul Revere's ride, the Boston Tea Party, Paul Jones, the Battle of Bunker Hill, Ben Franklin's arrival in Philadelphia, and the courtship of George Washington. The children depicted in these illustrations are plump and rosy-cheeked and have meticulous costuming. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall .

Luxurious presentation edition (relié toile, tranches dorées),text block gilded on three sides. undated but probably around 1905. Author is also known as Marie Malezieux. Numerous engravings by Gilbert. Pages somewhat browned and some splitting on left side of spine. Otherwise very good.See photos. This is probably a "First thus" published by Flammarion.
