About This Item

Lancaster, Pa.: Steinman and Hensel, 1883 Book. Illus. by Uncredited Frontispieces in Each Section. Very Good. Original Cloth. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Original brown cloth on boards. No DJ. Two titles in one volume. The first is centred on a young Swiss, Bouquet, who fought first for the Dutch and then for Sardinia before being commissioned by the British to fight the French. The second is a memorial to twelve persons massacred in Antrim Township, Pa., during the Pontiac War of 1764. Apparently it was Bouquet's loyalty to King George III that obscured him from American history books. Memorial of Enoch Brown is dated 1886. Contains also The Bouquet Celebration on Bushy Run Battlefield of 1883. Roughly 250 pp. in all. Patterned endpapers. Rear cover spotted and minor edge foxing. All pages clean and easily readable..
