One small area of loss (finger nail sized) to the bottom inner margin of one page, well away from the printed text, and a few finger marks but otherwise a very good copy. Finely bound in recent full dark blue morocco leather. Spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Twin red labels, gilt. Single gilt ruled border to both boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. An attractive copy of this charming book.

Freeport, Maine:: Rebecca Goodale,, 2021.. Edition of 9. Ink stained Japanese papers, text printed in letterpress, images are all drypoints; accordion bound in cloth with clothbound clam shell box. Rebecca Goodale designed and bound this artist's book in her studio in Freeport, and she printed the imagery onto the pages at Circling the Square Press in Gardiner. Judson Merrill of Portland wrote the text. Scott Vile at Ascensius Press in Bar Mills designed and printed the letterpress text. Each book in this limited edition is signed and numbered by the artist and the writer.  Rebecca Goodale: "This artist's book was inspired by the text. In response to the written word I created a vertically long long long book suggesting the deep Atlantic and the creatures that live there.

Signed presentation to Mark Strand by Robert Pinsky directly on the half-title page: "For Mark, with / warm regards / and admiration. / Robert / 2/9/76." Additionally, a Cambridge envelope addressed to Mark Strand laid-in with a short letter to Strand from Pinsky on a personal stock card, reading: "Dear Mark, / Thank you for The Weather of Words--you kept your / promise! -- and I'm glad. An I, too, have been / busy with the alphabet. / It was great to see you, and really impressive, as / ever, to hear you read the poems. / Yours, / Robert."

Light toning to spine and a faint short crease to upper front cover, else book in fine condition. A lovely copy.

Printed by Andrew Hoyem and Robert Grabhorn in San Francisco, and bound in publisher's tan linen cloth over blue paper-covered boards with errata slip tipped in at rear; in publisher's unprinted white dust jacket. Near Fine, with lean to spine, covers faintly marked. In a Near Fine dust jacket, lightly soiled and with light edge wear. An early long poem of Pound's, and his first attempt to write poetry using world history, and adding opinions of his own. Originally intended to be published in the 1911 first edition of Canzoni, Pound deemed it too serious, and removed it during the proof stage. It was not until 1967 when the poem was finally published, first in an Australian poetry magazine, then here for the first time in book format in a limitation of 110 copies. 1514 RARE Parthenice Mariana Carmelite Mantuanus Hagiography Badius P. Incunable

Baptista Mantuanus was a Carmelite poet whose 15th-century works were influential during the Protestant Reformation. Perhaps the most influential of his works was 'Parthenice Mariana' – a collection of hagiographic poems each of which honored the lives church fathers, Catholic saints and theologians, classical writers and philosophers, mythical heroes, and iconic biblical figures. Notable names include:
