Good. hardback. 1st Edition. hardback, two volumes complete, folios, contemporary calf bindings although with later endpapers to volume I, boards are worn and scuffed, and the spine of volume I has been laid down, lacking spine titles although volume labels are still present, loss to leading edge of front blanks of volume one and leading edge of all before xxiii is brittle but with only very minor marginal loss, likewise at rear some brittleness to the leading edge but without loss. Besse's "most important work is the Sufferings of the Quakers, a laborious compilation. The cases of persecution &c are under the several counties followed by New England, Barbadoes, Nevis, Bermudas, Antigua, Maryland, Jamaica, Europe and Asia, Isle of Malta, Hungary and Austria, Dantzig, Hamburg, Germany, Ireland, and Scotland.
