First American Edition; Second Printing. Hardcover. Wiley & Putnam's Library of Choice Reading; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Publisher's red cloth, [6], cxi, [1], 249, 210p., some illustrations, ads. **Coigney #62: "With the exception of the new imprint and the date at the foot of the title-page, this is a reissue of the first Bethune edition of 1847." This copy is in the Wiley & Putnam's Library of Choice Reading red cloth binding which is not recorded by Coigney. There is a half obscured exlibris stating Semi-Centennial Contribution, presented by, and signed John Wiley Esq. This is overlaid by a Phiilomathea n Society exlibris. With a tipped-in slip stating "After the stereotype plates of the Bibliographical Preface were cast, the Publishers determined to copy the cuts of fish, &c., from Major's edition, instead of Baxter's, as stated in the Preface" at the head of the first page of Bethune's Bibliographical Preface. ***With a binding and a slip of bibliographical interest not noted by Coigney. .
