London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd, 1915. Illustrated with black and white plates, some of which are mounted, large thick octavo, pp xvi, 250, top edge gilt, other edges uncut, rather weak internally, the hinge at page 176/177 very weak indeed, and some other hinges becoming so, brown cloth slightly rubbed, lower cover very slightly marked, rear corners slightly bruised. [With the stamp of Fred B. Butler on the front endpaper, and also an armorial bookplate. He had a keen sense of local history and over a span of 50 years gathered a collection of archives, manuscripts, photographs and artefacts, most of which related to Taranaki history. He wrote articles for the local newspapers from 1927 to 1947, using two nom de plumes 'Humane' and also 'Egmont'. ]. Emmeline Freda Du Faur (1882 - 1935) was an Australian mountaineer, credited as the first woman to climb New Zealand's tallest mountain, After her climb to the summit of Mount Cook in 1910, she is quoted as stating: "I was the first unmarried woman to climb in New Zealand, and in consequence I received all the hard knocks until one day when I awoke more or less famous in the mountaineering world, after which I could and did do exactly as seemed to me best".[1] Following her notoriety, she would dispense with a chaperone but retain her, now customary, climbing attire of a skirt to just below the knee over knickerbockers and long puttees. It pleased her that her attire afforded an element of femininity to upset critics and challenge existing stereotypes of physically active women.]. First Edition. Cloth. Fair.

Printed for F. Style. London.,1739. FIRST, AND ONLY, EDITION. 8vo. Front wrapper, ii,28pp. Lacking the half title but with the rare printed front wrapper (showing the price of Six Pence) laid down and bound in. Text complete. Top edge of pages have been cut and gilded, the others are untrimmed. Pages a bit marked and rubbed but overall a very good example. The original front wrapper has some small areas of loss to the edges and corners and has been professionally laid down. Bound in modern half red crushed morocco by C. Walters. Spine with raised bands, ruled in blind. Compartments lettered in gilt. Boards with dark red cloth. Burgundy endpapers. Previous owners bookplate (Douglas Peter Crossman, Earl Stonham) on front pastedown endpaper. Overall a very good copy of this uncommon political satire, mocking the supporters of George II and Prince James Stuart, the Old pretender. Not in Halkett & Laing.:

Description:
Indianapolis: Dog Ear Publishing, January 2013. Trade Paperback. Fine. Slight reading wear to corners, otherwise pristine. Not from a library. No remainder mark. Not clipped. Not damaged. Suitable for gifting. 163 pages. The 25 authors of this book were volunteers in the first Peace Corps rural community development project in Africa: Sierra Leone, 1965-67. They are also the first group to tell a collective story of Peace Corps volunteers, anywhere. The Peace Corps was in its infancy then, and memories of John Kennedy were strong among the young volunteers. Sierra Leone was also in its infancy in the first few years after independence, before military coups and tribal warfare became common. The authors forthrightly recount their feelings of loneliness and isolation, and their frightening experiences with secret societies and witchcraft, but their uniquely optimistic "can-do" American attitude brought most through a great life experience.

Octavo (8 3/4" x 5 1/2") issued in blue cloth with gilt lettering to spine and gilt sailing ship to front cover. Translated by Anthony Mango. Second Series, volumes 177 and 181. First edition. The eighteenth century saw a resurgence of hope that a Northwest Passage - that elusive target of European seamen over the centuries - might yet be found. Prompted by the Irish MP Arthur Dobbs, the Admiralty sent the Furnace and Discovery to Hudson Bay in 1741 in search of navigable passage to the Pacific.
