J. Rawlins. Engr. t.p.,xii,206 pp. + 8 pp. publisher's catalogue. 8vo. Publisher's green cloth, gilt spine and cover vignettes, a.e.g. Binding shows minor shelfwear, with corners gently bumped. and scattered foxing; but the gilt-stamping is bright. Slight foxing to title-pages; in general the plates are quite sharp, clean and beautifully colored. Page 17-18 and plate facing p. 18 are loose, laid-in and unharmed. Otherwise, the bookblock is sound. Housed in a green cloth, modern custom-made three-panel folding sheath within a slipcase. An attractive copy of an uncommon and important sporting book. Gilt titles to spine. t.e.g. 4to. 7.5" x 11.5 This Edition, has been pinted in Griffo type on the hand-press in 225 numbered copies on hand-made Fabrino paper, of which this is number 93. Illustrated with Woodcuts by Bartolommeo Di Giovanni for a lost Quattrocentro Edition, which were used to illustrate various later texts and now been reesembled and recut by Fritz Kredel. Very mild usual foxing to fore-edge. Very slight foxing to front and rear pastedowns. A Very Fine crisp copy.

Ten (of 12) volumes: Haustellata volumes 1-4, Mandibulata 1-6, lacking volume 7 and supplement. First editions by Baldwin and Cradock, London. 1828-1835. Overall good condition. Complete with all plates and pages. Bindings are mixed. Seven volumes light tan full leather (goat?) with Yapp style bindings. Marbled endpapers and edges. Two half leather, marbled board bindings and one museum library rebind (~75 years old). The interiors are excellent except for vol. 6 Mandibulata which has water toning upper outer corner affecting last quarter of volume and final two plates. Haustellata volume 4 has museum library stamp on title page and plates are in a back pocket; has interesting old scientific marginalia. The value here is in the matching 7 volumes (Haustellata 1-3; Mandibulata 1-4). First appearance of Darwin's work in print. See Freeman pages 19-20. My Sister Life was written in the summer before the 1917 October Revolution, it was very well received and established him as a genius of Russian poetry. The English translation was done by Mark Rudman. The acclaimed Russian born artist, Yuro Kuyper provides 6 etchings for the publication, printed on Hannemule paper in Paris. The paper used for the text was hand-made by H. M. P. Mill in Connecticut to resemble the sort of stock produced in 1920's Russia, even incorporating bits of Russain newspapers with rags and cotton pulp. The book is in near fine condition, with the only defect being some sunning to the spinea. The slipcase in VG or better, showing some sunning. The book is signed by Yuri Kuyper and this copy is #212 of 250. The original LEC invoice for $4000 laid in; Etching; Folio 13" - 23" tall; Signed by Illustrator .

Folio. 191pp., illustrated with magnificent illustrations by Dore whose marvelous depictions of the squalid metropolis and showing an underside described in part by Dickens and written both by Octavia Hill and General Booth were here made bold by the large size engravings with details that later reprints unfortunately had to reduce ending the boldness of his pen, rebacked and re-cornered in brown leather over original maroon cloth, raised bands with lettering gilt, marbled endpapers and all edges marbled, occasional scattered foxing but mostly clean. Huge folio (13 x 17 inches) suite of ten superbly colored full-page illustrations loose, as issued, and a full-color illustrated title page by noted French illustrator Guy Arnoux. Original color pictorial folding covers with ribbon ties. Limited to 475 numbered copies (#218), printed on laid paper, watermarked. Each plate in very good condition, but contains remnants of plastic tape on verso of image not affecting images. Some minor marginal tearing of fragile paper. Binding spine sl. frayed and covers a little soiled. A remarkable survival. Printed on handmade paper watermarked, "Ingres, 1871." Exceedingly scarce and desirable graphic art by this exemplary French artist.

Illustrated with hand coloured lettering and illustration to the title page and 24 hand coloured lino cut illustrations, each one above two verses of printed text. On the blank pages opposite somebody has written out in a neat early hand the English translation of the first 15 sets of verse. Possibly inscribed by the author, in English, on the blank leaf opposite the title page 'To Muriel with much love and best wishes! Christmas 1938. Franz and Elizabeth'. Original oatmeal coloured paper covered boards with title printed in outline and hand coloured, to the front panel. Spine of the outer wrapper is split, a little chipped and edges rubbed but overall a very good copy of this charming and rare book. No copies listed on Copac or Worldcat.

Illustrated with a colour frontis and forty nine full colour plates, all mounted onto thick art paper pages at back of book, each one with a printed tissue guard. Decorative endpapers with map of Kensington Gardens. A near fine, bright and clean copy throughout in original russet cloth binding with gilt stamped decoration and lettering to front board and spine. Very minor rubbing to hinges and a small bump to the lower front board at the outer corner, but overall a beautiful clean copy of this classic. Among the very best of Rackham's work.
