Pages are somewhat toned; endpapers are more so. Other than toning, pages are clean and undamaged except for typical library treatments. 28 plates in color and half-tone; close to 500 b/w drawings by the author. Front hinge is very loose but binding is holding together. Textblock: darkened on the top; toned on right and bottom edges. Boards covered in dark blue buckram; worn to boards at corners. Top and tail of spine are worn and have several small rips, top front edge of spine is also ripped. Bottom edges are shelfworn. Gilt titling on spine is faded.

NY: E.P. Dutton. Lots of illustrations and some color plates. Binding very used looking with light cracks to spine area inside and out. Still very tight and unmarked reference work inside. Just has a used dowdy appearance. . Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1938.
