Good. - Small quarto [9-3/4 inches high by 7-5/8 inches wide], reddish brown cloth with a raised cover illustration in black & white on a gilt ground within a decorative gilt frame. All the edges are gilt. The binding is rubbed, affecting the cover illustration, and with the cloth at the corners of the covers rubbed away. The head & tail of the spine are chipped & frayed. Unnumbered pages printed on one side only. Extra decorative title page and 7 heliotype plates illustrating silhouettes by Winslow Homer, with tissue guards. The book is cracked at the decorative title. A previous owner's name is penned at the top of the decorative title & a bold ink inscription fills most of the verso of the front endpaper. There is occasional foxing. Good.
