New York: The New York Times Co., 1925. Light wear but with a previous owner's name on the cover; no interior markings. Illustrated with photographs and drawings. There is a quote from George Santayana, the American philosopher, that has a couple of variations: Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it; and - those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. So true. And he also said, "A country without a memory is a country of madmen," while the German philosopher Georg Hegel said, "We learn from history that we never learn anything from history." These Current History magazines tend to prove those statements. And a look through the titles suggests the problems of 1925 weren't much different than the ones we have now. This issue contains far too many articles to list them all but some of the highlights are: The Passing of William Jennings Bryan - Bryan as a Political Leader by George W. Norris; Bryan - The Great Commoner by Frank Parker Stockbridge; The Significance of the Scopes Trial - Issues and Personalities by Russell D. Owen; From the Standpoint of Fundamentalism by Walter D. Buchanan; From the Standpoint of Science by Edward L. Rice; Progressivism at the Cross Roads by Charles Hodges; Arab versus Jew in the New Palestine - From the Arab Standpoint by Isaac M. Husseini; From the Zionist Standpoint by Conrad Stein; Cancer Still Unconquered by Science by Watson Davis; and much more.. First Edition. Soft cover. Very Good. 8vo. Magazine.
