Very Good. 1949 Macmillan UK 1st edition, VG+/VG-minus DJ in Mylar, dustjacket has small piece missing at top edge, tiny nicks at head of spine & top corners, foxing/soiling on rear panel which is white, in new Mylar, name & date on endpaper is only marking found, light foxing on endpapers.

In the pictorial dust jacket that shows a hint of edge-wear, price of 8/6 intact on front flap. The pleasantly macabre dust jacket illustration by Harry Cowdell (1912-1987) offers a skeleton emerging from a crypt, scythe in hand, set amid a backdrop of spires and stormy sky. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
