New York: Blue Ribbon Books. Reprint . Cloth - Hard Cover. Fair+/No Dust Jacket. Copyright is 1936. 349 pages. A well-thumbed, but solid copy of this reprint published the same year as the first edition. Orange cloth covers with a little wear at crown and corners. There are a couple of small white stains seen on the spine cover, and a small tear in the cloth along the bottom joint. Volume shows just a little spine lean. Some remnants of book plate previously removed from front paste down. A few smudges and small stains, but overall a fairly clean copy.
Synopsis
In Dubious Battle is a novel by John Steinbeck, written in 1936. The central figure of the story is an activist for "the Party" (the American Communist Party, although it is never specifically named in the novel) who is organizing a major strike by the workers, seeking thus to attract followers to his cause. In Steinbeck's obituary, the New York Times said that "Although the writer's sympathies were clearly with the strikers...
