An accordian style book with wood covers. Front side appears to have some water damage. Twenty cases each has a hand colored illustration, two per page. Appears to be water color and colored pencil on silk with a silk background.
Outside dimensions 8 1/4" X 6. Upon opening there is a tear at the top and a knotch size hole at the inseam. The previous owner told me it is in Cantonese and it is also in English. It looks like the author's name is along the inside of the board but I can't read Cantonese. Ships with delivery confirmation where available.

Very good to Fine, very few signs of wear apart from a small (shelf?) smudge on one bottom edge.

Small quarto (11 1/2 X 8 inches) Japan: Getumeikai, 1959. First Edition. (5) 59 + (6) pages printed in Japanese and English on hand made Japanese vellum, with 26 individual fabric samples (25 are tipped in, the 26th sample is the cover material for the hardcover binding), plus a wood block print illustrating a woman in Japanese wardrobe working at a hand loom. Number 180 of a limited edition of 200. Housed in an ink blue stiff folder with bone ties. At the bottom of each page is a description of the sample, its pattern, its weave, and its dye; in addition to a small woodblock illustration of the plant from which the fabric is derived. Very good condition.

Some pencil underlining to index, light wear to outer bottom edge of a section of leaves, neatly repaired in places, some marginal stains at end. Title "Momotaro" in transliterated Japanese on front cover. Silk string-bound plain paper book, approximately 4.75 x 7.2 inches. Binding along left edge consists of two sets of four holes stabbed through the paper, with white silk threads forming an X on the back and two knots on the front. Spine is not covered. Color woodblock illustrations on covers and many pages. Front cover has illustration of a Samurai and animals in Samurai costumes at a gated entrance. Covers wrinkled and soiled, with a one-inch tear at the top of the front cover that goes through the title, and a spot of white paint in sky. String binding intact. Corners worn.
