Michael who was a Moravian Missionary working in the Kuskokwim Valley in the 1930's. Religion, Alaska, Eskimo Language ; Thin 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 103 pages .

Author's photo on the frontis of this second of his three volume autobiography. The green cloth cover boards are showing some wear on the corners. The dust jacket in a mylar cover is unclipped and has some chips on the top and bottom of the spine. The binding is secure and the text block is clean, unmarked mildly foxed. There is an "A" and the publisher's colophon on the publication page. 187 pp

Rare/collectible. This is a first edition copy of James Jerome Gibson's famous book. The cover shows a bit of age and some fade on the spine (see pictures for condition) but otherwise the book is in good condition. The prior owner's name is written on the front leaf but the main text is completely clean. No dust jacket.

The author, Georg Heinrich Loskiel (1740-1814), was a Moravian minister from Latvia who came to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in 1801 to head the Moravian community. This collection of daily spiritual meditations was published in Budissin (now Bautzen, Ger.) shortly before he left Europe for the United States. In 1802 he was appointed presiding bishop of the Northern district of the American province of the Moravian Church. Very scarce.
