Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 2001. First edition. Hardcover. 356pp. Octavo [24 cm] 1/4 red cloth with yellow paper over boards and a gilt stamped title on the spine. Very good condition, with minor bumping to the head of the spine, and a bit of creasing to the contents page. In a very good dust jacket, with light surface wear, and a small crease in the rear inside flap. From the dust jacket- "Unlike other commodities, fast food isn't viewed, read, played, or worn. It enters the body and becomes part of the consumer. No other industry offers, both literally and figuratively, so much insight into the nature of mass consumption.

First serialized by Rolling Stone in 1999, the book has drawn comparisons to Upton Sinclair's classic muckraking novel The Jungle.
