About This Item
Boston: Little Brown and Company - An Atlantic Press Book, 1954. First published September 1954, this is a second reprint. Hardback. 246pp. Dust jacket. The first night in the village of Nenweald, Mr Wainwright had gently taken the half-dead Bella Ford home. She later remembered the lamplit table wavering in front of her, and then had come sick oblivion. When she came out of the long delirium of her illnes, she had only one feeling left - hate. Everything else had died in the struggle across the snow-swept moors, the agony of thwarted birth in the shepherd's hut, the desolation of her shame... Book in good condition. Some slight soiling to boards and a little light creasing to extremities of spine. The spine also has a very slight lean. Internally clean and bright and free of spotting. Dust jacket good. Unclipped and in a protective sleeve. Generally rubbed and soiled, a little staining to front. Some slight loss to head & tail of spine and around the corners. A little wear to edges and chipping to corners. A couple of small closed tears to folds with some earlier neat reinforcement with clear tape to inner surface. Small area of abrasion to rear where it appears a label has been removed.
