Crown Publishers, Inc, New York, 1980. First Edition. Hardcover (1/4 Boards 3/4 Boards). Very Good Condition/Good. 1/4 silver coloured backstrip with black coloured titles. 3/4 black coloured boards. Plain text dustwrapper with silver coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. The author was the founder of Olympia press, succeeding his father's publishing company Obelisk Press, the Paris publishing house to which so many talented 20th-century writers gravitated when their works were considered too scandalous that everyone else.  William Burroughs  Samuel Beckett  Donleavy  Terry Southern  Nabokov etc. His father was first to publish Henry Miller, Anais Nin, Lawrence Durrell, and Frank Harris, and these literary giants were frequently houseguests when he was a young boy. This is the first of a project of 3 parts autobiography telling in this volume of his childhood and adolescence in Paris between the wars. Softening of the backstrip edges was rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Age toning of the textblock edges and pages.
