Boards rubbed. Light browning throughout. 11 plates present, lacking 13 plates. A good copy of the scarce American edition, sadly lacking plates.

Original publisher's red roan-backed yellow pictorial boards. Rubbed, marked, and bumped. Lower portion of one plate torn away, spotted. The first edition, in original unsophisticated state, of one of the earliest productions of prolific Harris author Lucy Sarah Wilson (1801-1863). Presented in the form of a dialogue between mother and child, the book relates the journeys of Italian explorer and pioneering archaeologist of Egyptian antiquities Giovanni Battista Belzoni (1778- 1823), notable for his discovery of the tomb of Pharaoh Seti I in 1817.
