Travel guide for the first year of operation of the full line of the Gottard Railway, the Swiss line which crosses northern Switzerland to the canton of Ticino, part of the important international railway system linking northern and southern Europe. Construction began in 1872; 1882 was the first year for the full line following the completion of the Gottard Tunnel, the world's longest rail tunnel at the time. Many beautiful woodcut illustrations of resorts including Davos.

Small 8vo, 117pp, plates, advertisements [36]pp, attractive folding color map of the Gotthard Railway line. Original half cloth and pink stiff boards. Deaccessed from the library of the Glenclyffe, NY monastery, with their stamp at the title page, number lettered at front board, and card sleeve inside rear cover. Spine cracked and chipped, boards dusty; internally very good.
