Lodz: 1988. Large folio (42 × 30 cm). Original decorative side-stapled self-wrappers; 8 pp. Light wear to wrappers, else very good. A samizdat artistic manifesto written by Sławomir Kosmynka, which announces the iconoclastic position of the Chaos - Faza 3 Gallery. Kosmynka studied typography and painting at the State College of Fine Arts in Łódź where he met Ewa Bloom Kwiatkowska and a number of other like-mind ed arists. Kosmynka and Kwiatkowska created the makeshift Chaos - Faza 3 Gallery in the basement of an apartment complex at Wigury 15 in 1988, creating this manifesto. In January 1989 Kwiatkowska used the manifesto in her action "Smoke over the city" in which she publically burned her paintings and artistic objects in an act of "protest against the use of images and of beauty by totalitarian regimes throughout the 20th century". The artist Wiktor Skok joined the action, playing a metal barrel while Egon Fietke ate the text of the manifesto as Jozef Robakowsky recorded the event on camera. Following the action, Kwiatkowska moved away from making art for over a dozen years re-emerging in the early 2000s as a video artist. Kosmynka became a commercial graphic designer working today in poster art. The independent artistic activities of Ewa Bloom Kwiatkowska and Sławomir Kosmynka in Łódź in the 1980s were recently described by Xawery Stańczyk in a dissertation on the "Alternative culture in Poland in 1978-1996", but the artistic scene in Łódź in this period remains understudied. As of June 2020, not in KVK, OCLC.
