FIRST EDITION in paperback, INTERNATIONAL VERSION, without prices to the rear panel (scarce thus - the first printing intended to be priced and sold in the UK was the second printing). Slim octavo, pp.191; [1], advert. Publisher's pictorial card wrappers. Some toning and soiling to cheap paper as expected, joints rubbed/scuffed, some spine roll. Used, but no significant defects. Toronto: Pan Books, 1966. FIRST Pan paperback edition, Canadian Printing. Series No.X527. Octavo (18 x 11cm), pp.159; [1], blank. Publisher's photographic softcovers with original price 60c to upper panel. Pages are browned as expected, spine a little rolled, minor rubs; near fine. Not to be confused with UK export copies priced at 60c, the Toronto printing has "an entirely different setting of the text and is trimmed narrower" Gilbert, p.400.

Publisher's black leatherette with gilt titles to spine and blue leatherette strips to fore-edges. Top edge blue; fore-edge untrimmed. With the dust-jacket in blue-grey, titled in yellow. A nice clean copy internally, with a couple of marks to boards. Jacket rubbed and chipped to edges, with a sizeable surface tear to spine, affecting titles. Very good. This is the standard American uniform BCE, from the mid-1960s onwards. The last full-length 007 novel, and basis for the 1974 movie starring Roger Moore as James Bond, and Christopher Lee (Fleming's cousin) as Francisco Scaramanga, nicknamed "Pistols" Scaramanga in the novel.
